Geographic Literacy Award: Nominate now
Each year, the Canadian Council for Geographic Education (CCGE) honours individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the development, enhancement or promotion of geographic literacy in Canada. If you know an individual who you would like to nominate for the Geographic Literacy Award, forward letters of nomination to the chair of the CCGE briefly explaining why the nominee deserves consideration. The award recognizes the dedication of educators who have exceeded the expectations of their profession in increasing youth understanding and appreciation for Canadian geography. The deadline for nominations this year is June 1. For more information, visit www.rcgs.org/awards/geographic_literacy.

“Canadian Geographic magazine is an excellent resource for teachers and students. It provides posters in both official languages, such as the St. Lawrence Seaway map, as well as short geography related news items suitable for current events. In addition, the June issue each year is devoted to environmental issues such as wind energy.”
