The Stuart Semple Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating student of geography in Atlantic Canada to pursue a B.Ed. degree, with a view to him or her becoming a geography teacher at a school in the region.
The Royal Canadian Geographical Society has designated funds for the purpose of making
grants in support of research on geographical topics and in support of projects that further
the mandate of the Society ‘to make Canada better known to Canadians and to the world’.
Proposals must identify the topic to be addressed, the methods to be used and the nature
of the finished product.
“Canadian Geographic magazine is an excellent resource for teachers and students. It provides posters in both official languages, such as the St. Lawrence Seaway map, as well as short geography related news items suitable for current events. In addition, the June issue each year is devoted to environmental issues such as wind energy.”
