Opportunity to attend Project Atmosphere – summer meteorology workshop

The Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) invites you to apply to PROJECT ATMOSPHERE, a 2-week summer workshop (July 20 – August 1) on meteorology specifically designed for teachers and run by the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The workshop is held at the National Weather Service training school in Kansas City . Expenses while on the workshop are covered by allowances from the AMS. CMOS and the Canadian Council for Geographic Education each provide a $300 subsidy for travel to and from the workshop. Opportunity for Teacher P.D. Initiative 2008-09

The attached outlines the terms and conditions for receiving $5,000 in funding support from the CCGE for a summer professional development initiative aimed at pre-service and beginning teachers. The CCGE plans to offer this opportunity over the next few years in support of its geoliteracy initiative. The key dates and required application information is also enclosed.

The intent of the Teacher Institute program is to support a single initiative in support of geoliteracy with a grant of $5,000 in the period of July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009.
