UNTIL WELL INTO THE 16TH CENTURY, EUROPE'S KNOWLEDGE of the nearest parts of North America was uncertain. It was Jacques Cartier's three voyages between 1534 and 1542 that helped discover the New World and began to give shape to Eastern Canada. Since then, many explorers have travelled the country to experience and uncover its infinite beauty. By the mid-19th century, most of the main geographical features of Canada were known and mapped. So, today, explorers challenge themselves and Mother Nature in hopes of finding new and exciting places and adventures to share with the world.
