Glaciers

Geography takes you to the land.

This glacier on the south side of Bylot Island in the N.W.T. shows how some land forms are created. The weight and strength of the ice is more extensively carving out this existing river valley and its melting ice has created streams and rivers at the base of these hills. This particular glacier has receded 1 - 1.5 kilometres in the last 50 years.
